My Master thesis in Geography
July 28th, 2014My background is in Geomatics and I did successfully complete my Master degree at the University of Liege (Belgium) in 2010. I want to come back to this period to present my Master thesis released under the title:
“Conception of an urban GIS prototype to manage natural disasters – City of Bamenda (Cameroon)”
You can find the full article here (only available in French).
The World Cup Goals Map Theater
July 23rd, 2014Even if the FIFA World Cup 2014 is finished since a week, I still did a new Web App about it ! (it is the last of the series for long time, I promise).
I call it the World Cup Goals Map Theater and it shows Cartograms, 2 for each World Cup, where the size of the countries are proportional to the number of scored and conceded goals per event. As a picture is worth a thousand words, I invite you to discover the Theater immediately! (Here under in the standalone webapp).
Copa Mundial de Fútbol – La Albiceleste !
July 13th, 2014Last but not least, I created a new and last Story Map about the second known finalist in this World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
Discover the birthplaces of the Argentinian players and their current clubs, and, in general the whole team which will affront Germany today! Should I mention I did this app in Spanish as I did the German in Dutch, the Australian and Belgian in English ?
WC 14 – Socceroos
July 6th, 2014The story maps about the teams engaged in the football World Cup 2014 in Brazil have so much success that I decided to add one more: A Story Map about Team Australia!!
Please find the workflow for creating this application in the full Story Maps Creation step-by-step article you can find here: Belgian Red Devils.
As for my previous two Story Maps, the information has been gathered from the Socceroos Wikipedia page and the pictures of the players, which have been downloaded, are coming from the team’s space on the FIFA World Cup 2014 site.
Enjoy this Story Map!
WC 14 – Die Mannschaft
July 2nd, 2014This World Cup in Brazil is such an incredible thing and amazing games are currently played in the round of the last 16. I told you about the Belgian Red Devils in the previous article and now it is time to discover another great Team which is still competing for the final trophy: Germany!
The workflow for the creation of this webapplication is similar to the one of the Belgian Red Devils but the underlying data changes of course. These are also picked from Wikipedia.
The very big difference between this Story Map and the one for the Belgian team is that there are, here, only the players selected for the World Cup 2014 and not for all the previous versions of the tournament.
Feel free to discover this great Story Map !
WC 14 – Belgian Red Devils
June 24th, 2014To open The Magiscian Blog, I decided to talk you about an app whose is currently in all the newspaper: The World Cup in Brazil!
Being a Belgian, and supporting of course our Red Devils, I created a webapp of our national football teams in the last World Cups (1982 – 2014). The maps showed in this app spots the birthplaces of all the Red Devils and their clubs.
Feel free to discover the app!
This web application has been created using esri’s Story Map shortlist template http://storymaps.arcgis.com/en/app-list/shortlist/.
Here are the steps to create such kind of webapp:
